Danelectro model 4123
1963-1969Masonite, Poplar, Rosewood
Also known as the Guitarlin, the Danelectro 4123 is remarkable not only by shape but by sound: Its extra long 31 frets neck adds a mandolin range.

Danelectro Mod 7
1998-2001Plywood, Maple, Rosewood
If there was a pantheon of unreasonably likeable guitar brands, I’d place Danelectro way up there. I mean, how often do you stumble upon a 7-strings with lipstick humbucker pickups at your local pawnshop? To top it all, a blow switch bypasses the existing three-way and turns on all three pickups at the same time. According to the very enthusiastic Bertram from guitarz, who wrote a must read praise for the Mod 7, it sounds just fantastic.
So if you got an extra $600 laying around, I’d suggest you pretend not caring about the masonite/plywood body and jump on this offer from Kev’s Guitarville for an ode to lipstick loudness.

1965 Danelectro Convertible. From ‘59 to ‘69, Danelectro produced a hollowbody shorthorn guitar with a pickup over a soundhole. It was reissued for a year run in 1999.

Danelectro Silvertone Model 1452
1968
Yummy 1968 Danelectro Silvertone Model 1452. One of the last models made before the company pulled the curtain. Apparently, there is a vibrato beneath that bridge.

Guitars don’t need to be expensive, Danelectro’s are affordable and still rock. The 3021 was a favourite of Jimmy Pages whilst in the Yardbirds, Syd Barrett used one as the backup to his mirror-disc Telecaster and even Rory Gallagher had one in his collection.
